Aishwarya Tipnis Architects

Aishwarya Tipnis Architects (ATA) and its sister organisation Jugaadopolis combine heritage conservation, urban revitalisation, and design research. ATA’s work is deeply rooted in the theory and practice of sustainable built environments, while Jugaadopolis often explores the lesser-known layers of urban history and community narratives.

*The name Jugaadopolis comes from the Hindi term jugaad which refers to a resourceful and affordable approach to problem solving.

Adaptive Reuse in India

The project aimed to culminate in a handbook and an exhibition regarding the roots of adaptive reuse in India, currently and historically. The goal was to highlight and promote the studio’s expertise in adaptive reuse methodologies as both an archival as well as a sustainable exercise in the urban planning sphere.

Roles and Responsibilities

My role was to provide the policy background of adaptive reuse which the studio would extrapolate to select projects to display in handbook and exhibition.
